Three-dimensional 3D TiO 2 with an acanthosphere-like morphology composed of nanothorns has been used as a suitable support to fabricate a visible-light-induced 3D AgI TiO 2 nanophotocatalyst. The as-achieved 3D AgI TiO 2 nanophotocatalyst exhibited enhanced photocatalytic performance towards photodegradation of organic pollutants, e. The enhanced photocatalytic performance is attributed to the strong visible light absorption and the defined interfaces between AgI nanoparticles and TiO 2 nanothorns with efficient separation of photogenerated carriers. The excellent performance of the 3D AgI TiO 2 nanophotocatalyst suggests its promising applications in water treatment and environmental remediation. TiO 2 nanopigments in two pure crystallographic forms anatase and rutile have been synthesized successfully by two methods; hydrothermal and hydrolysis. The produced pigments from the two methods were investigated physicochemically by several analyses tools. Then they were applied in paper coating mixtures and their influence on coated paper properties was systematically investigated.
Brookite is the most difficult TiO 2 polymorph to obtain in phase pure form. Here we report on a facile synthesis method for phase-pure brookite nanoparticles using a broad range of titanium precursors. General availability of phase pure brookite opens up multiple research activities to explore both fundamental properties as well as applications. The synthesis method is scalable and thus it potentially allows for large-scale industrial production.
