Each year, the Graduate School recognizes the important contributions of graduate students to the excellence of the University with four renowned awards:. Nominations are invited from all graduate programs, and recipients of the award represent a variety of teaching approaches in diverse subjects. Awards are given once a year to graduate students who have been nominated by their department and selected by a panel consisting of faculty and a representative of the Graduate School. Teaching excellence awardees receive a gift and a certificate of achievement. They are also recognized in Inside Binghamton University and, if graduating in the academic year, in the Commencement program.

The purpose of the Brennan Fellowship Awards is to provide students with summer supplementary support. All awards will require the listing of any and all alternative sources of funding, which will be taken into consideration by the GSA Awards Committee. Falsification of or failure to disclose this information will result in revocation of this award. Each type of award may be received only one time during a student's academic career at Saint Louis University. Eligibility for funding requires that you must not have previously received either type of Brennan Summer Fellowship Award, which will be verified with the Office of Student Financial Services i. The Dissertation Research Grant is an award paid by The Graduate School to assist doctoral students with expenses associated with research necessary to prepare dissertations.
The Outstanding Master's Thesis Awards will be given in four different categories on a rotating basis:. The fields for competition for are: Social Sciences, Business and Education 1 Award : Includes finer fields of study such as: anthropology, accountancy, business, communications, criminal justice, demography, economics, education, finance, gender and sexual studies, geography, government, international relations, law, linguistics, management, marketing, political science, psychology, public administration, public policy studies, sociology, social work, urban studies, and research in closely related fields. Life Sciences 1 Award : Includes finer fields of study such as: animal science, agriculture, biological anthropology, biochemistry, biostatistics, biological and biomedical sciences, chemistry, epidemiology, health sciences, medical social work, computational neuroscience, nursing, physics- biophysics, psychobiology, radiology, sports science, and research in closely related fields.
